Once registered with Cambridge Guardians, your child will come under the guardianship of our Director Heather. Cambridge Guardians will then liaise with you, your child, their school and their host family to ensure that your child is well cared for and supported throughout their time in the UK.

  • We appoint a friendly and caring host family carefully matched to your preferences. Our host families are carefully checked and selected. Your child will stay with their host family during holidays and exeat weekends or live with them full time if they are a day student.
  • We arrange taxi transfers to and from school. We can arrange all personal journeys to and from airports and to host families with our own preferred drivers or by liaising with school transport options. An unaccompanied minor service is available for younger students.
  • We provide emergency 24 hour support. During term time we are available 24/7 to help with any emergency that arises, whatever that may be.
  • We meet your child regularly. Each term we visit your child at school or while they are staying with their host family.
  • We provide pastoral care. We regularly check in with your child by whatever method of communication they prefer. We discuss their progress and any concerns they may have. We are genuinely interested in your child and their journey through school to becoming young adults.
  • We are in regular contact. We are in regular communication with parents, houseparents, matrons, tutors and host families. We are here to help you and support your child in whatever way is required.
  • We provide document support. We can help with documents needed for visa applications.
  • We provide accommodation and support if your child cannot stay at school. If your child cannot stay in boarding or the school is closed for some unforeseen reason we will accommodate them. Eg. illness, school closure, suspension from school.

                                 Education Services

Educational advice is an integral part of our Guardianship Service, we are committed to providing parents and students independent advice throughout their child's Education in the UK.

Cambridge Guardians are also able to identify and introduce you to suitable schools and help to liaise with the schools in connection with the admission process.

  • We attend parent-teacher meetings on your behalf. Each meeting is followed by a detailed report to parents on their child's progress.
  • We give Educational Advice. We can give personal and professional guidance at each stage of their education, including when your child chooses their GCSE and A-level courses and when applying to a new school or University.
  • We communicate with the school.  We keep parents informed of school matters by regular contact with school staff as required.
  • We attend special events. We can represent you at school functions such as speech day, sports day, plays and concerts where appropriate.
  • We arrange extra tuition. When necessary we can arrange additional subject tuition during exeats and holidays. We can also arrange for additional English tuition and IELTS preparation.
  • We can help with University Applications. We have tutors who can help with writing personal statements and interview practise for University applications.

Day Students

Our enhanced guardianship means that we support your child in whatever way is necessary.   For students who attend day schools we provide that extra level of support which would normally be carried out by boarding staff in a boarding school. For both day and boarding students we can help with other day to day issues that arise.

  • We act in loco parentis. We gain permission to sign a consent form in cases of emergency. For example an operation or medical treatment.
  • We make appropriate arrangements for medical care. We help students register with a local doctor, and can accompany them on your behalf.
  • We can help purchase items that have been lost or forgotten. We have helped buy uniform, sports equipment, instruments, SIM cards and top up phones.
  • We can advise on how to open a bank account. It is useful if older students have a UK bank account to manage their day to day expenses.

  University Students

University Students under the age of 18 are required to nominate a UK guardian therefore we are pleased to offer a guardianship service suitable for more independent students. Some older students also wish to be supported by a guardian to offer advice and support giving students and their parents peace of mind in case of any difficulties. We are also able to help students find suitable accommodation.

  • We book airport transfers to/from University/College. Transport can be arranged to meet you on arrival.
  • We provide 24/7 emergency support. In an emergency we are here to help support you.
  • We arrange a settling in visit. We are able to meet you and discuss any concerns you may have.
  • We provide support and advice. We are here to help you when you need it.
  • We provide homestay accommodation. We are able to help you find suitable accommodation.
